One of the important buildings, the Government Museum is one of the oldest in India(1886). A special attraction here are the antiquities from Mohenjodaro
period. Situated nearby the museum is Visveswaraya Industrial and Technological Museum named after the great engineer-statesman .
Next to the VITM is the Visveswaraya Industrial Trade Center, the first of its kind in India. In addition to its trade promotional activities, the Center has two exhibition floors housing a
permanent display of all that is manufactured in Karnataka.
Near the Museum is the K.Venkatappa Art Gallery which has a permanent exhibition of the works of the great artist, K. Venkatappa. The Gallery does much to encourage art in the state.
Also in the Cubbon Park are the Seshadri Iyer Memorial Hall, which houses the public library, the High Court and the Jawahar Bal Bhavan. The Bhavan, with its toy train, fairgrounds and theatre, is
a recreational, hobby and educational centre for children.
The Kalakshetra, built to commemorate Rabindranath Tagore's centenary, promotes cultural activity in the city. It has a superb theatre and houses the Cultural Akademi Offices. Next to it is the Gothic styled Puttannachetty Town Hall whose huge auditorium can easily accommodate over 1500 persons.
The Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, housed in the Gandhi Bhavan, houses a comprehensive picture gallery and other exhibits of Gandhiji which depict the life and times of Gandhiji. The Bhavan is open on weekdays(10:30 Am to 5:00 PM).
An imposing edifice housing the State Legislature and the Secretariat of Karnataka, this is one of the best-known landmarks of Bangalore.
Overlooking Vidhana Soudha is this red brick and stone building in the Greco-Roman style of architecture. It houses the state High Court.
Built in 1791, Tipu Sultan’s summer retreat is a two-storied ornate wooden structure with fluted pillars, cusped arches and balconies. It
now houses a museum that contains artefacts relating to the Hyder-Tipu regime.
Bangalore Palace
Modelled on the lines of the Windsor Castle in England, the Bangalore Palace flaunts turreted parapets, battlements, fortified towers and
arches. Entry to the palace is restricted.
Marvel at India’s first and only aviation museum displaying aircraft models, photographs, fighter planes and helicopters. There are also aircraft simulators, air traffic control towers and an aero modelling club.
This is one of the premier fine art institutions in the country. Its activities extend to dance performances, folk theatre, photography exhibitions, puppet shows and musical recitals. Chitrakala Parishath is a goldmine of paintings by famous artists including Roerich. It contains a graphic studio and an open air theatre and houses five art galleries which are hired out to artists who wish to display their work. The Parishath has worked to revive dying art forms, its most notable successes being in traditional Mysore paintings and leather puppetry. It also holds workshops, artists’ camps and demonstrations. The institution also houses the Chitrakala Vidyalaya, a college of fine art forms affiliated to the Bangalore University offering courses in painting, sculpture, graphic art, applied art and art history.

Bull Temple
Built by Kempegowda, it is reminiscent of the 16th century Dravidian style architecture. It has a huge granite monolith of Nandi.
Just below the Bull Temple is the huge Ganesha temple with a monolith Ganesha idol 18 ft. high and 16 ft. wide.
Gavi GangadHareshwara Temple
Built during Kempegowda’s reign, this unique cave temple contains a granite moon; sun-disc monoliths; a stone umbrella; a Shivalinga; and three cave passages. Every year, during Makara Sankranthi, this cave temple witnesses a strange phenomenon when a ray of light passes precisely through the horns of the stone bull outside the temple and illuminates the deity inside the cave.
Built in an ornate architectural style, the Krishna Temple is a blend of modern technology and spiritual harmony.
Prasanna Anjaneya Temple
Situated on a hillock, the temple bears a 22 ft. high block granite statue of Lord Hanuman.
The 65 ft. Shiva statue, with an artificial pond resembling the Manasa Sarovar Lake and caves with the replicas of Jyothirlingas are a major
tourist attraction.
Infant Jesus Church
Established in 1979 by Rev. Dr. Lourduswamy, the then Archbishop of Bangalore, the church draws huge crowds on Thursday, the day dedicated to Infant Jesus.
This houses the State Central Library. This place has a rich collection of reference books.
